#MSDhoni

As someone rightly said, the debate on who the G.O.A.T. is will continue. As newer greats come, the debate will only grow. But if there was a greatest ‘Superstar’ of Indian cricket, it has to be MS Dhoni. A legend on the field and off it. A star whose character and leadership superseded even his own incredible talent and world-beating performances. Adored by fans, fellow players, the media, brands and certainly someone who will be wooed by political parties in the future (if they haven’t already). Sorry to sound like a fanboy. But I have no qualms in admitting to being one. Belated birthday wishes to the man who made the ‘7’ jersey immortal.

#ThreadsApp

This was the most awaited launch of the week. Threads from Instagram was billed as a potential Twitter-killer – with a lot of ifs and buts thrown in. Threads’ adoption rose by the millions in hours of launch. There were also some pointers on why it may not be able to replace Twitter or cause serious damage to the original micro-blogging platform’s following. IMHO, Twitter is here to stay. It has a sizeable base and people on it have built traction that they will not want to let go of. Threads that extends from Instagram will likely attract a younger, Insta-friendly audience, making Twitter’s life challenging in the longer term. Elon Musk of course can cut Twitter’s life sort or cut it to size by ringing in more changes in his quest to quickly monetise. Meantime, Threads’ logo was asking to be roasted. But it’ll grow on us, like the app.

#IndianFootball

Goosebump moments as the Indian soccer team and 26,000 fans in the stadium sang AR Rahman’s version of Vande Mataram after India won the SAFF Championship 2023. The team’s rise up over 40 ranks to 100th place in the world in 10 years is no mean feat. The rise of football at the grassroots and across India beyond the South (Kerala and Goa) and the East and North East augurs well for the sport. The role of club football cannot be ignored. Onwards and upwards, Indian football. And a special salute is due to captain Chettri for his message calling for peace in Manipur.

#Amul using #IndianFootball recent success in its promotion is itself an endorsement, the power that football in India commands.

If Indian football and Amul can connect stitching a commercial partnership of a long term then there is a win-win of a far bigger returns.

He is Sunil Chhetri, Indian football team captain.

Yesterday he won #SAFFChampionship2023

According to @Live_Hindustan, Sunil Chhetri after yesterday match said:

“This win is dedicated to my people in Manipur, Manipur loves football and it pains me to see what's happening… pic.twitter.com/MmtZeVy6d1

Have you ever heard this at a cricket match?

Sports fans of India, come over to #indianfootball. We're not world class yet but our world is classier than anything you've ever seen#BackTheBlue #BlueTigers #SAFFChampionship2023 #SAFFChampionship #SAFF2023pic.twitter.com/KCd72JUZeA

#Jailer

It’s hard not to notice when a Rajinikant movie is around the corner. One song from the upcoming Jailer is making waves now. There’s nothing amazing about the track or the choreography but then, it’s a Rajni track from a to-be-released movie. Even as #JawanTeaser is eagerly awaited, this one is keeping all film buffs engaged.

Looks like Thalaivar fans are hugely settled in Insta and Facebook. We have to agree that relatively we are less presence in Twitter and YouTube but I see slowly but steadily we are growing here as well. Spread positivity and positivity always prevails. #Jailer #Kaavaalaa pic.twitter.com/NyRTPgkrtr

#MahsaAmini

The Brazilian women’s football team won respect and hearts as it landed in Australia for the World Cup in early July. Its chartered plane had two messages – ‘No woman should be forced to cover her head” and “No man should be hanged for saying this” – prominently displayed on the body of the aircraft. It also carried pictures of Mahsa Amini, whose death after being in police custody spared protests across Iran, and former footballer Amir Nasr Azadani, who was sentenced to 26 years in prison during the protests. Some news reports say that the messages were the responsibility of the aircraft owner, quoting Brazil’s football authority. The chartered plane belongs to Argentine film producer Enrique Piñeyro, according to Australian broadcaster SBS. It doesn’t matter whose responsibility it was. It was a message that needed to be told this way.

On this momentous 40th Friday, the courageous people of #Zahedan once again fearlessly took to the streets. Just as in previous Fridays, their voices echo resoundingly, unyielding in the face of intimidation.#IranRevoIution #ToomajSalehi #MahsaAmini pic.twitter.com/dh3YA1fSiG
