Sony emerges as the leader of Urban HSM; Zee Anmol retains its dominance in U+R HSM

BARC Wk 2 : Sony regains top spot in Urban HSM & becomes No. 2 in U+R; Zee Anmol continues to lead Rural

Mumbai : In line with the BARC data for week 36 for the period between Saturday, 1st September 2018 and Friday, 7th September 2018, the HSM has seen a mild shuffle in the ratings of the Hindi GEC channels this week. Zee Anmol 838334 (000s) impressions has retained its leadership position in the HSM U+R category, while in the Urban market Sony Entertainment Television is seen taking a leap to the first place with a spike of 88719 (000s) impressions in viewership. The major reason for Sony’s performance this week is the launch of the 10th season of the quiz show KBC hosted by actor Amitabh Bachchan that was launched on 3rd September 2018.

Following the market leader Zee Anmol, Zee TV is seen climbing to the runner up position with 689309 against the previous week where it was in the sixth place. Star Utsav  658543 and Star Bharat 645596 are seen interchanging their positions standing at No. 3 and No.4 respectively. Sony Pal 622584  (000s) impressions has retained its position in the 5th place while Star Plus 614665 (000s) impressions is seen dropping to No. 6 against its position at No.2 in week 35. Sony 599495 (000s) impressions has moved on to 7th place in the list pushing Colors 584060 (000s) impressions to the 8th place. Rishtey 532809 (000s) impressions is has climbed up to the 9th place and Sony SAB is seen leaving the top 10 list of Hindi GEC’s giving place to Dangal TV 477791 (000s) impressions which has again back in the list after few weeks.

Urban HSM

With the launch of 10 Season of KBC Sony Entertainment Television has  emerged as the market leader of the HSM Urban category this week with 448725 (000s) impressions.  Star Plus 439702 (000s) impressions has stepped down to the second place while Colors 397917 (000s) impressions is also seen sliding to the 4th place in the list. Zee TV 421594 (000s) impressions and Sony Sab 333351 (000s) impressions has moved to the No.3 and No.5 positions respectively. Star Bharat 316790 (000s) impressions and Star Utsav 194877 (000s) impressions have retained their places standing at No. 6 and No.7 respectively.  The order of other channels in the list like Sony Pal 171878(000s) impressions, Zee Anmol 154769(000s) impressions and &TV129874 (000s) impressions remains unchanged this week.

Rural HSM:

The week 36 ratings for the HSM rural market remains the same except  for the lower order of the top 10 list has witnessed changes. Zee Anmol continued its leadership in the HSM rural market with 683566 followed by STAR Utsav with 463666 (000s) impressions Sony Pal 450706 (000s) impressions , Rishtey 414199 (000s) impressions and Dangal TV 380258 (000s) impressions have retained their position in the 3rd , 4th and 5th places in the top 10 GEC list in the rural category.

While Star Bharat 328806 (000s) impressions  stands at No. 6th place , Big Magic 239851 (000s) impressions  has stepped down and is seen occupying the 8th place, giving its place to Zee TV 267715 (000s) impressions which stands at the 7th place. Star Plus 174962 (000s) impressions  has managed to push Colors 186143 (000s) impressions  to the 10th position and stood and No.9 in the top 10 GEC list chart in week 36.
