New Delhi : Netflix Inc launched operations in India on Wednesday, with plans starting at 500 rupees ($7.50) per month. The video-streaming service will also offer two other plans priced at 650 rupees and 800 rupees per month.
As reported earlier on tvnews4u.com, the company said it will come to India with competitive plans. This is excellent news for the industry and viewers as the company will provide lot of content to be streamed over the internet to its users. With the launch of 4G in India, the Indian consumers are up for a whole new experience, while the Broadcasters, DTH and Cable operators are in a jitters as they need to gear up to arrest further scattering of audience from Television to Digital Medium.
There are three plans announced by Netflix such as Basic, Standard and Premium. The Basic plan start from Rs 500 a month with Single Screen viewing option, while the Standard will cost Rs 650 per month which has two screens viewing and Premium will cost Rs 800 Per Month that has four screen viewing. Ultra HD content is available for Premium Plan only.. Local and international content will be available at a click of a button. It offers unlimited Movie and TV shows for all the three plans.
“Today you are witnessing the birth of a new global Internet TV network,” said Netflix co-founder and chief executive Reed Hastings during a keynote at Consumer Electronics Show 2016.
“With the help of the Internet, we are putting power in consumers’ hands to watch whenever, wherever and on whatever device.”
Since Netflix launched its streaming service in 2007, the service has expanded globally, first to Canada, then to Latin America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan to include 60 countries.
Netflix is available on devices that have Internet connection, including personal computers, tablets, smartphones, Smart TVs and game consoles, and automatically provides the best possible streaming quality based on available bandwidth.
