How are brands celebrating World Environment Day?

Every year June 5th is celebrated as the World Environment. The day is celebrated to remind us of the importance of protecting and preserving nature.

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Reimagine. Recreate. Restore.’ and this year marks the beginning of the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. Pakistan is the global host for the day to highlight the importance of ecosystem restoration this year.

Brands have come up with unique campaigns for World Environment Day 2021.

NIVEA India

On this World Environment Day, as a truly caring brand that Cares for Skin and Cares Beyond Skin, NIVEA has introduced its latest skincare innovation – NIVEA Naturally Good, an all-new sustainable skincare range with naturally derived ingredients. The brand has also taken a step further in partnering with SankalpTaru – a technology-enabled NGO focusing on reforestation, to plant more than 10,000 trees in the rural areas of Karnataka and Assam.

Additionally, NIVEA India has curated an innovative ‘Care Box’ for this range which minimizes packaging material for deliveries and eliminates the use of plastics, resulting in a hassle-free and environmentally responsible experience for shoppers. Enabling consumers to virtually adopt a tree of their own on the purchase of every NIVEA Naturally Good combo, NIVEA India aims to support the environment and help local farmers earn a sustainable livelihood.

Roca Group

Roca Group, a world leader in the design, production, and commercialization of products for the bathroom space, has reached an agreement with Schneider Electric, specializing in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, to define a new roadmap towards decarbonization, establishing a single, global strategy across the Group.

The collaboration between the two partners will consist of three phases. In the first one, Roca Group will work with Schneider Electric to define its vision of the decarbonization process, analyzing the environment and setting new, more ambitious goals. During the second phase, Schneider Electric will study Roca Group’s plants to set commitments to reduce energy consumption and emissions, to implement sustainable energy generation in the factories, and to compensate for those emissions that cannot be eliminated.

Finally, during the implementation phase, Roca Group and Schneider Electric will advance in the digitalization of the company’s processes and will proceed to the sensorization of the different production centers to monitor and optimize energy consumption in order to reduce costs and emissions. Schneider Electric will also help Roca Group to define its decarbonization needs so that, with its own resources, the Group can implement projects to reduce emissions and implement sustainable energy.

PETA India

Numerous members of parliament (MP) from across party lines have pledged to eat vegan – by forgoing meat, dairy, and other animal-derived foods – on World Environment Day, 5 June to raise awareness of the power we all have to help the planet by choosing more Earth-friendly foods.

The participating MPs are Maneka Gandhi, Member of Parliament from Pilibhit; Shafiqur Rahman Barq, Member of Parliament from Sambhal; Bellana Chandra Sekhar, Member of Parliament from Vizianagaram; Ajay Bhatt, Member of Parliament from Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar; Anuradha Chinta, Member of Parliament from Amalapuram; Sunita Duggal, Member of Parliament from Sirsa; Vijay Hansdak, Member of Parliament from Rajmahal; and Kaushal Kishore, Member of Parliament from Mohan Lalganj.

OneGreen has launched unique #DeleteDigitalJunk campaign.

Storing digital data that is never used can also consume an enormous amount of energy and, as a result, produce CO2. VERITAS estimates that 5.8 million tons of CO2 will be unnecessarily pumped into the atmosphere as a result of powering the storage of this kind of data this year (2020-21) alone. Campaign flow- The campaign is aimed at making people aware of the cause through social media contests wherein the audience is asked to send the brand screenshots of the stories and posts showing the amount of deleted digital junk and tagging their friends along with the brand using the campaign hashtag. At the end of the contests, the brand will announce the winners of the #DeleteDigitalJunk contest. The winners will receive a curated hamper from the partnering brands on the platform. The campaign is populated through the brand’s social media – Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter handle, ensuring maximum reach for the cause.

OneGreen is marking the occasion by asking you to reduce your carbon footprint and incorporating sustainable behavior with one tap at a time – just hit delete!

Puressentiel India, organized a health and wellness webinar on the 2nd of  June 2021 as the world celebrates World Environment Week. The French, 100% natural, vegan Aromatherapy brand organized a webinar in association with the Women Inspiring Network to interact and educate the Indian audience around the Health Benefits of Essential oils: The new normal in these stressful times. People have been managing and recovering from pre and post covid repercussions across the country, hence this one its kind natural healing brand, organized this panel discussion around the benefits of essential oils, the impact of aromatherapy in coping with these stressful times mentally and physically for the whole family.

AG&P

AG&P, a leading downstream LNG, and gas logistics company. On the occasion of World Environment Day, AG&P Group has redoubled its commitment to Swachh India, a clean India for all. As part of its effort, AG&P Pratham has launched its campaign ‘One Tree for One PNG Connection’, to drive a sustainable environment direction in India.

In line with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030), AG&P, under this initiative, plans to plant a minimum of one million trees across five states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Rajasthan over this coming decade.

With this DVC, Voltas is reinforcing its commitment as a responsible and environmentally conscious brand that is encouraging the society to preserve the nature for generations to come. Known for its energy efficient products & solutions, Voltas was the proud recipient of the Ministry of Power’s ‘National Energy Conservation Award’ in 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2020.

Earth’s alarm clock is going off. Beco has shown a clock ticking on earth with some ecosystem realities flashing on the Earth clock mentioning – “We’re running out of time. Let’s stand up for what we stand on.” This extends the thought that these realities are alarming and we need to take action. It is also in line with this year’s theme – Ecosystem Restoration.

Zing:

Zing urges the youth to make small changes in their daily lives to enable sustainable living. These changes include tips on saving water, reduce plastic usage,  embrace minimalism – opting for less to make a significant change, among others.
