Aims to boost packaged food label transparency and empower healthier food choices

Consumer Product Startup TruthIn appoints Revant Himatsingka as brand ambassador

New Delhi: Revant Himatsingka, also known as ‘FoodPharmer’ on social media, partners with TruthIn, India’s first consumer product intelligence platform, to combat mislabeled packaged food. As the brand ambassador for TruthIn, he works to debunk myths and has already persuaded top food brands to reduce sugar content despite facing legal challenges.

TruthIn, with nearly 200,000 downloads and 35,000 active users monthly, offers comprehensive reviews and customized insights on packaged food, personal care, and cosmetic items in India. Users can scan a product’s barcode for a detailed rating considering nutritional profiles, ingredient quality, health impact, and processing levels, among other factors.

Revant Himatsingka aka Food Pharmer, a trained nutritionist and food label expert, said, “I am thrilled to join forces with TruthIn. Earlier when I was involved with them in an advisory capacity, I found their rating system and personalized match meter to be the most accurate. I believe that TruthIn can genuinely help consumers make more informed choices. This greatly supports my vision for a healthier India. By deepening our ties, we’ll catalyse a more informed and health-conscious India, ready for tomorrow’s opportunities.” 

The partnership between TruthIn and Food Pharmer aims to address the concerning reliance on unhealthy ultra-processed foods (UPFs) disguised as healthy options. Backed by WHO research, the collaboration will enhance consumer awareness through transparent labels, healthier choices, and clearer information on daily packaged food consumption. India, ranked third in global packaged food sales by EuroMonitor, sells millions of packaged food items daily.

Consumers are misled by deceptive packaging and marketing tactics using exaggerated portions and vibrant imagery, causing confusion and misguided purchases.

Ravi Putrevu, Co-founder and CEO at, NatFirst, TruthIn’s parent company, stated that, “Partnering with Food Pharmer allows us to reach a broader audience to promote transparency and clean labelling. India is challenged by health issues, with millions predicted to be obese, have diabetes, or hypertension. The current need is personalized tech-driven health solutions combining data science, AI, and nutrition.
