Goafest 2016: Only 38 Golds in this year Abbys against 78 in previous year

Goa: J Walter Thompson India took the limelight on the last day of Goafest 2016. The agency picked up a total of 47 metals. Following on its heels was Dentsu Taproot which shone in the second place with 40 awards.

Next came Contract Advertising with 26 Abbys, while DDB Mudra and Dentsu Creative Impact received 23 awards each and tied in the fourth place. According to The Awards Governing Council of Goafest 2016, a total of 419 Creative Abbys were given away, of which only 38 were Golds.

The number of Golds came down significantly this year, with 78 Golds being disseminated last year.

No agency managed to pick a Grand Prix this year, across both media and creative Abbys. However, the jury committee decided to introduce Best in Category award, a sort of ‘Gold of Gold’ metal, if you will.

Publicis Communications’ Ambuja commercial that featured The Great Khali bagged the best in category award in the Film Single category. Hectic Content received a Gold metal for Myntra’s campaign Anouk — The Calling, in the new category for Gender Sensitive Advertising.

Sarva Integrated won the Best of South Asia tittle for its campaign Mawbina Vesak Lanterns in the PR category.

This year, Goafest also called for entries from creative and art teams under the age of 35 who had to present a campaign on the theme — how communication can help mitigate gender violence.

JWT Gurgaon’s creative duo Bodhisatwa Dasgupta and Nitesh Sah won a Gold in the Young Abby category and a trip to Cannes Lions 2016 as well.
